Jakarta, Indonesia, August 31, 2008--Muslims attend "Tarawih" prayers on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan at the Istiqlal mosque. The prayers are traditionally performed during Ramadan, which is marked for daily fasting from sunrise to sunset.

Soaring food and fuel prices in Indonesia are putting a damper on the lavish meals that break the daily fast this Ramadan, according to news reports. Prices for staples such as eggs, milk, and cooking oil have spiked about 12 percent.
