The Solent, United Kingdom, August 31, 2008--A batsman appears in fine form on the world's most ephemeral cricket ground.

The Brambles sandbank was the site of an August 31 match held in the middle of the Solent--the stretch of sea that separates the Isle of Wight from the British mainland.

Members of the Island Sailing Club and the Royal Southern Yacht Club hold the hourlong match each year while the submerged sandbank is exposed during the year's lowest tide.
